Citizens Property Insurance Corporation's Recent Policy Changes Impact Water Damage Claims

Citizens Property Insurance Corporation recently made changes to their insurance policies that significantly impact water damage claims. Here are the 3 most important things you need to know about these changes:


1) When taking emergency measures to protect your property from further water damage, the cost may not exceed the greater of $3,000 or 1% of your coverage, unless approved by Citizens;


2) Citizens can deny reimbursement for permanent repairs that begin more than 72 hours after the loss is reported, unless approved by Citizens; and


3) Citizens will only cover the access required to repair/replace the portion of the system that caused the loss.
